“Zion will be redeemed through justice, and her captives, through charity,” our sages tell us.
When the Temple stood in all its glory in Jerusalem, G-d’s Divine Presence dwelled there in a very revealed manner. Then, when the Jews were exiled, every Jewish home received the ability to be an abode for the Divine Presence. G-d put His essence into the Holy Torah, so when we fill up the rooms in our home (and the car) with holy books, such as a Siddur, Chumash, Tehillim, Shulchan Aruch (Code of Law) etc., we are creating a mini-Temple in our own home.
